How to Boost Retail Sales
Jul 14, 2023If there's one thing I know about retail, it's this: you're probably just sitting on TONS of potential revenue for your salon, letting it go to waste, leaving you with untapped potential and money you've invested into retail just sitting stagnant on your shelves🥲
It doesn't have to be that way though... Below I've outlined my retail strategies for making the absolute most out of your product, leaving you with heavier pockets and healthier clients.

1. Approach retail with a long term strategy in mind. Success isn't about the clients you have, it's what you do with them. Summer is prime time for travel, so this is the peeeerfect time of year to get your clients hooked on a sample or travel size product, and turn it into something they can't live without🥰 Summer also happens to be prime time for dry, frizzy, damaged hair, making it the right time to upsell your clients on moisturizing treatments. Remember, your books might be lighter in the summer, but upsells can keep your revenue steady by increasing each client's ticket!
2. Get your stylists on board. Have you ever invested in a sales strategy training for your team, or started a retail leaderboard? Both of these routes are pretty much guaranteed to light a fire under your stylists, and help them more effectively sell retail to fill BOTH of your pockets.🤑 Bringing a professional in can help your stylists approach retail sales as an either/or, or problem solving situation, rather than a yes/no "Do you want to buy product today?" type deal. A more effective approach coupled with a little bit of friendly competition will increase your retail sales by strides📈
3. Market your retail officially. I'm gonna say it... A lot of your Instagram profiles are too damn hairy🥸 I get it, it's simple and satisfying to post endless versions of the same poses of clients, but at the end of the day you can get SO much more from your social media. Try out these content ideas, and watch your clients ASK you for products while they're in your chair

4. Don't be afraid to bundle. BOGO is one of everyone's favorite words, and you can use this nifty little term to your advantage! Buy two/three get one free is an AMAZING way to get big retail transactions, and heightens the chance your clients get hooked on at least one product and decide they can't live without it, creating a customer for life!😏 Flash sales (one day/week/month only events) are also a great way to incentivize your clients to make the decision, and quick!
